ABOUT HTTC |
|||||||||||||
Organisation
Founded by Richard Hewitt, the club is a voluntary organisation which aims to provide facilities for residents of Humshaugh and the surrounding area to play table tennis. The club is run by a local, voluntary committee which meets regularly and is responsible for all aspects of the club’s activities. Committee membership is open to all adult members of the club and elections take place at the annual general meeting.
Playing sessions
The club will meet in Humshaugh village hall most Thursday evenings, beginning on 24 September 2009 and finishing on 13 May 2010. There will be 24 sessions in total. A detailed schedule of dates is provided on a separate page.
A Family/Junior club for those aged 10-18 years and for family groups will play from 6-8 pm on the designated Thursdays.
An Adult club for those over 18 years will play from 8-10 pm on the designated Thursdays. (Some flexibility will be exercised for those who are in the 17-18 years bracket).
Membership
Anyone over the age of 10 can apply to be a member. Simply complete a membership application form which can be obtained on a club night or from one of the committee. Once the application has been accepted and the appropriate fee paid, club members are entitled to play at every currently scheduled club session and without paying anything further.
For the 2009-2010 season, membership fees are as follows:
Previous experience of playing is not essential, and coaching will be available for those who want to improve their game. It is expected that members and guests will support the general well-being of the club and show respect to other members and to the club equipment.
Finance
The club is a self-financing organisation, although it has received a grant from the Lottery fund for the purchase of tables and other equipment. It is therefore dependent on the annual subscriptions paid by members to pay for the rental of the hall, coaching, the replacement of equipment and various administrative and publicity costs. For this reason, it is important that we use all the equipment carefully and avoid any unnecessary damage or loss. |
